Lacerte hosting

Lacerte hosting with your April capacity written into the contract

Your Lacerte runs on a private server we manage. Extra CPU and memory from January through April is a line in the agreement you sign, so it isn’t something we hope to have.

In the agreement you sign

  • Extra CPU and memory from January through April, as a line item
  • 99.99% uptime. Miss it and the credit lands on your next invoice automatically.
  • Seasonal seats added in January, removed in May
  • Month-to-month. Your Lacerte data comes back in full if you leave.

Read how the SLA credit works

  • 99.99% uptime in the contract
  • No setup fee, no server fee
  • Month-to-month
  • MFA on every plan
  • A named team of 3 engineers
  • Our own [SOC 2 Type II] report

What happens at 4:30 p.m. on April 15

Eleven preparers are pushing returns into the e-file queue at once. Someone is printing a 60-page 1065 with K-1s. The front desk is opening a client file to answer a phone call. On an undersized server, this is the hour Lacerte freezes and someone says “just restart it.”

We size your server for that hour, not for July. The extra capacity for January through April is written into the contract, with the exact amount set at your consultation. If our uptime falls below the 99.99% SLA, the credit shows up on your next invoice automatically. You don’t have to fill out a form or meet a deadline.

Our limit: if a return rejects because of a diagnostic, that’s a Lacerte issue, not a server one. We’ll tell you which it is quickly, and we’ll stay on the call with Intuit support when the problem is ours to prove.

What you get on a Lacerte private server

Private server

Your firm only. No other firm’s e-file batch competes with yours for CPU.

Capacity January to April

Extra CPU and memory during season, written into the contract.

Named team

3 engineers who know your setup. You reach people, not a queue.

Backups you can check

Server backups every 4 hours, kept 90 days, with a restore test every quarter.

MFA on every login

Included on every seat. It doesn’t cost extra and isn’t limited to a top tier.

Month-to-month

No annual term. If you leave, your Lacerte data comes back in full.

Add preparers in January, remove them in May

Seasonal seats are added when your temporary preparers start and removed when they leave. They cost the same $79/user rate, with no setup fee. You don’t keep paying for six empty desks all summer.

Each seasonal preparer gets their own login with MFA. When they leave, we turn off access the same day, which helps when your WISP asks who had access to client data.

How we move your Lacerte data

Moving Lacerte means more than copying one folder. Each tax year has its own data, and your option sets, client list and printing preferences are what make Lacerte work the way your firm works. We move all of it.

  1. Inventory. We list your data paths by year, your option sets, client list settings and any custom forms.
  2. Build. We set up your private server, install Lacerte for the years you need, and apply Intuit updates.
  3. Test copy. We copy your data and open sample returns from several years, so you can check that option sets and prior-year carryforwards came over.
  4. Cutover. We do the final sync over a weekend. Monday morning your preparers log in to the same Lacerte, with their client lists where they left them.
  5. First week. Your named engineer checks in daily.

Plan for a weekend, not an hour. If you’re already in season, we’ll tell you whether to move now or after the October 15 extension deadline.

One price per user

Private Cloud is $79/user/month, or $72 billed annually. Setup, migration, MFA, backups, Microsoft 365 apps on the server and a WISP template are included. There’s no server fee or setup fee, and no add-ons you’re required to buy.

Seasonal seats are the same rate, no setup fee. Want your laptops and Microsoft 365 managed too? That’s Private Cloud + Managed IT at $139/user/month ($125 billed annually).

See every plan on the pricing page, or read about Managed IT for laptops and Microsoft 365.

Lacerte hosting questions

Can I host my existing Lacerte license?

In most cases, yes. You keep your Intuit license and we install Lacerte on your private server. Terms differ by license type and seat count, so we check yours on the call before you sign and tell you plainly if anything needs to change.

Will our option sets and client list come over?

Yes. They’re part of the inventory in step 1, and we check them on test returns before cutover.

How many prior years can we keep?

As many as your license and storage cover. Most firms bring several years so amended returns and carryforwards stay in Lacerte.

Who installs Lacerte updates?

We do, on a schedule you approve, so updates don’t run in the middle of a filing day.

What if e-file is slow on April 14?

You call your named team. If the server is the cause, we fix it. If it’s Intuit’s e-file service, we tell you that so you aren’t stuck between two support lines.

What if the first season goes badly?

Under our first-tax-season guarantee, if it isn’t better, we migrate you to any provider for free (terms in your agreement). Plans are month-to-month either way.
